The National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS), has launched an initiative for food security, welfare and compassion for the students’ community, to address the increasing economic pressures facing students, which has made access to nutritious meals daily, challenge for many.
The initiative – Students’ Food Support Initiative 1.0, which is in commemoration of the World Food Day, according to NAIDS, is a welfare-driven project aimed at providing food assistance to students of Ikorodu Division, who are members of the union and are in need of food support, while pursuing their academic goals.
Shortlisted students will get their food packs at the iCare Foodbank situated within the Rep. Babajimi Benson’s Constituency on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

While stating in a statement signed by Comr. Ogunbowale Olatayo Bodunrin, President, NAIDS-NATIONAL, Comr. Shonaike Ridwanullah, National Welfare Director, NAIDS-NATIONAL and Comr. Ogunyemi Olayinka Oladipupo, Public Relations Officer, NAIDS-NATIONAL, the body said that no student should go hungry, snd also lauded the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, for accepting to provide the food support for the shortlisted students.
“As a responsive and people-centered student body, NAIDS-NATIONAL recognizes the increasing economic pressures facing students across tertiary institutions, which have made access to nutritious meals a daily challenge for many. In response to this, the body has introduced the Students’ Food Support Initiative 1.0, a welfare-driven project aimed at providing food assistance to students of Ikorodu Division, who are members of the union or students of Ikorodu Division, and are in need of food support, while pursuing their academic goals”, the statement stated.

It further stated that, “This initiative is not only a response to the hard times, but also a testament to our belief that no student should go hungry in the pursuit of education. Over 120 students from tertiary institutions across the country, applied for support under this maiden edition. Following a rigorous and transparent selection process, a list of qualified beneficiaries has been finalized.
“Contact has commenced with each selected student ahead of the official Food Pack Collection Day scheduled for Saturday, 18th October, 2025 at the Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson Constituency Office, Ebute Road, Ikorodu”.
The NAIDS leadership thanked the federal lawmaker, Rep. Babajimi Benson, and his Director – General, Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, for the support in ensuring that students have food security.

“We extend our profound appreciation to Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, for his kind acceptance, unwavering support, and full empowerment for this initiative.
“We equally express deep gratitude to Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Director General of the iCare Foundation, and to the entire iCare Foundation team for their full sponsorship, and for expanding the reach of this project to accommodate a larger number of beneficiaries”.
The students’ leadership stated that the initiative emphasizes that the union prioritises the welfare of its members, while urging members to rededicate themselves to its progress and that of Ikorodu Division.

“The Students’ Food Support Initiative 1.0 symbolizes the compassion and collective responsibility that NAIDS-NATIONAL stands for – a union that prioritizes the welfare of its members and remains committed to their academic and social progress.
“As we join the world in celebrating World Food Day, 2025, we reaffirm that NAIDS-NATIONAL will continue to stand with students, not only in advocacy, but also in practical support for their wellbeing. We encourage all students of Ikorodu Division, to see this initiative as a demonstration of our collective concern for their welfare and contribution to their academic success.
